FAQs

Do I need a referral?

No, it is not necessary to have a referral in order to access psychological support. However, a current referral from your GP is required in order to access the relevant Medicare rebates. Some private health insurers may reimburse you for a portion of the consultation fee without a referral, although it is advisable to check with your insurer prior to your appointment.

Do you charge a gap fee?

Yes – The fee for a 50min face-to-face consultation is $200 and the current Medicare rebate is $93.35. This leaves a gap fee of $106.65 per session.

We also offer 50min telehealth consultations at the lower rate of $175, which leaves a gap fee of $81.65 per session.

At Lemons 2 Lemonade, we’re committed to keeping fees below the recommended Australian Psychological Society (APS) rate. Read more here.

How many sessions does Medicare cover?

If eligible, Medicare currently provides rebates for up to 10-sessions per calendar year. Your GP will typically review your progress after the first 6-sessions.
